Panko-crusted Tofu

Becoming a Vegan at such a young age, made me appreciate eating healthy; sacrificing neither flavour nor texture.... My concept is clear...food should taste good. It doesnt matter what type of food it is. Vegetarian and Vegan foods have gained a bad rep throughout the years because some folks think just because it's healthy it should taste like it... I'd say, my way of healthy cooking wouldn't make you feel as if you're missing out on anything.

Tofu is a very bland product, which is not always a bad thing; it just means you are free to add or create any flavour profile you prefer. In my opinion, this recipe might just be the best tofu i've ever had!!!

Ingredients

  • 1 Block Firm Tofu

  • 4 Tsp All Purpose Seasoning Mix

  • 2 Tbsp Flour

  • 2 Tbsp Water

  • Pinch Salt

  • 1/4 Cup Panko Bread crumbs

  • 1/4 Cup oil (for frying)

Directions

Cut tofu into slices; about 1/2 inch thick. Season both sides with All Purpose Seasoning and set aside.

In a shallow bowl or plate, combine Flour, water and Salt and mix to create a thin paste.

In a small frying pan, heat oil.

Spread Panko Breadcrumbs onto a saucer or plate, into an even layer.

Dip Tofu slices into the paste, coating all sides; then roll into Panko Bread crumbs, ensuring that it is evenly coated.

Shallow-fry until golden-brown and crispy, (about 3-4 minutes a side) turning only once.

Place on a paper-towel to absorb any excess oil.

Serve hot.
