Dry goods Canisters made from Formula Cans.
After baby had the last of his cereal, i'd throw the cans into the trash, until one day I took a good hard look at it and I wondered..."what else can I do with this???"
That, my friend, was the beginning of my obsession with tin cans.
These aren't those "can-o-beans" cans.... these are fairly large compared to the tin cans you'd buy food stuff like beans in, and if you have a baby.... they'd be pretty easy to get a hold of. By the end of the week I would have atleast one large can or two small ones.
This whole project took me only 4 hours to complete (this is my first try) so it is easy to make and the great thing is, you can create your own designs.
Enough said.... Lets get to it...
You will need:
Empty, clean formula cans.
Burlap Twine
Crazy Glue
A pair of Scissors
Gather your supplies... There's nothing worse than starting a project and having to stop to search for tools and material.
Remove wrapper from cans and scrape off any excess glue.
Apply a tiny drop of crazy flue to the base of the can with the end turned slightly upwards. This, I found useful for hiding the edges and eliminating "unravelling"
Carefully, wrap the twine around the can; tightly and ensuring that they are as close to each other as possible. Every so often, place a small dot of crazy glue to ensure the twine stays in place during handling.
I did nothing to the lids since I wanted to store dry goods in them, if you'd like you can add a bow or flower or simply wrap the lids in twine.
Lightly trim around the can to get rid of those unruly strands.
I'm not going to use these until Christmas so I will definitely be posting when they are all ready!
